How to: Create a Sophisticated Medoll Successfully

Polincik
A.n.k.s.a.
To create a sophisticated medoll, you don't need to be grown up or even a serious person. The definition of sophisticated is: developed to a high degree of complexity. If you examine these medolls, you'll notice that each involves a variety of colors, patterns and fabrics. Based on these pictures and the definition of sophisticated, I have come up with some helpful tips to creating sophisticated medolls!

Colors- A sophisticated medoll can be created using almost any colors, but the brighter and more cartoonish you make the colors, the more difficult the look is to pull off. If you want to make it easier for yourself, use colors similar to those shown in these photos. Use a variety of colors that are close on the color wheel.

Patterns- A sophisticated medoll should include solid colors or simple patterns like plaid, stripes or polka dots. Use a variety of different patterns for the best effect and avoid graphics and text, especially in bright colors. In the end, you can use anything you want, just tread carefully. Use the patterns on the medolls shown as your guide.

Fabrics- A sophisticated medoll could be made using any fabric, but like I said about colors, there are fabrics that make it harder to pull off. I think you should avoid spandex and other shiny fabrics. Use fabric with texture, like wool, lace or fur. Look at the photos shown for examples of texture in sophisticated medolls.

The overall idea that I'm trying to share with you, is that a sophisticated medoll needs to be complicated. The definition of complicated is: consisting of many interconnecting parts or elements. You can make it complicated by using many different colors, patterns and fabrics that all work together. It takes good taste and practice, but if you can find the harmony in the different elements, you will have mastered the key to creating a sophisticated medoll.

Stardoll History & Changes

Stardoll History & Changes!!

Stardoll was not always the huge fashion community that it is today. Actually, it wasn't always Stardoll. I always visited the site in 2006 to dress up dolls.

Here are some of the differences between the old and new Stardoll.

                                                                                 ♥Name,History and layout♥

Stardoll started out as Paperdoll Heaven in 2004. In 2004-2006 dress-up doll sites were EXTREMELY popular. Ads were everywhere for paperdoll dress-up sites, competing for the most popularity. There were no "members" on Paperdoll Heaven until 2006. Still, it was a small site where you could dress up and save dolls. Not your own, just celebrities. No superstar memberships, no currency. Yet. I was on Paperdoll Heaven frequently, dressing up my favorite dolls.

In March 2006, the name was changed from Paperdoll Heaven to Stardoll!

Stardoll created it's famous logo and started the community. Instead of your user information at the top, it was on the left side of the screen. Just signed in users were on the right side of the screen. You could create your own medoll, but the website was still centered around dressing up celebrities.

The layout had minor changes throughout the years, but the user info was still on the left and tabs still on the top. Then came this layout, which is VERY similar to the one we have now. You could now pick a starter doll.

Here's the current layout. Similar to the last one, but more purple and it has rounded edges instead of sharp square edges.

♥ Beauty Parlor ♥

This was the beauty parlor in 2006.

                                                                ♥Superstars & Currency♥

If you were a superstar it would look like this:

As you can see, it says "style medoll". That is like the beauty parlor to us.

It also only has stardollars. There were only stardollars on Stardoll until....late 2010 or early 2011.

Since there were only stardollars, the way to tell if the item was for superstars or not, there was a star next to the price tag. Sadly, most items were for superstars. There was no way for regular members to buy items with a star on it. Except for one day.
A few days into your membership in 2010, there was this day called your "superstar day". You would become a superstar for one day. You recieved I think 20 stardollars to buy whatever you want. It doesn't seem like a lot, but items in starplaza were not very expensive, so 20 was a decent amount.

♥Other Changes ♥

There was only Stardesign Fashion in 2010.

Decorating and designing your album was SUPER popular.

There were no Royalty members until early 2012 I think.

No luxury suites such as Alpine Chalet and Beach Villa

I don't remember if starbazaar was there in 2010.

♥Well that's all for know♥

FRONT ROW STORE (HISTORY)

  FRONT ROW STORE (HISTORY)

Hi! I decided to do Stardoll History lesson. This will help new members find out about how old Stardoll Stores looked and make older members remember.

I chose the "Front Row Store".Which had a really amazing concept. The concept of Front Row was to present the trends from specific fashion shows through some clothes releases from famous fashion houses.
.
As you will see in the pictures of the stores, it looked like a catwalk with the name "Front Row".
Unfortuantely the store was released only for Fall 2010 .

The First Collection Released on September 20, 2010:
The clothes were from New York Fashion Week

Front row : New York

Second Collection from London Fashion Week got released 3 days later on September 23, 2010.
Front Row, London:

It didn't took a lot for a third collection which was actually named as
Front Row, Milan:
This floor was released on September 28,2010
but it was not the last one.

The last floor was released on October 10, 2010:
The last floor was about Paris Fashion Week
Here is how Front Row Paris looked like:

The Store went on sale somewhere in December and then got removed.
After it was gone, the store left expectations from a Spring/Summer 2011 release,
but the truth is that Stardoll chose never to release again another Front Row Collection,
which was a mistake if you ask me cause it really was an interesting store.
You could say that "Windows on The World" is kind of what is left to continue part of front row but it has also been re-moved.
Some Clothes of Front Row..especially from the latter floors can still be found in Starbazaar but most of them are really expensive now.

and that was your Stardoll history lesson for today.....
